The men's volleyball team of Ukraine took a significant step forward, making it to the Final Four of the prestigious Golden Euroleague tournament. The team under the leadership of the Argentinian coach Raul Losano fulfilled the minimum task this season, and did it ahead of schedule.
Updated composition: the key to success
The updated composition of the national team of Ukraine became a real discovery. The players, who passed training sessions and test matches with Germany and Poland, showed themselves from the best side. Yuri Semenyuk, Maxim Drozd, Serhiy Yevstratov, Yevgen Kisyliuk, Dmytro Yanchuk and Danilo Uryvkin played at a high level, and captain Yuri Semenyuk became a real leader of the team.
Comeback against Portugal: the decisive moment
One of the brightest events of the group stage was the victory over the Portuguese national team. The Ukrainian team showed incredible character, winning back from the score 11:19 and winning the game. Raul Losano noted the contribution of players who came off the bench: Mykola Rudnytskyi, Victor Shapoval and Dmytro Dolgopolov.
"The boys showed themselves from the best side, proving that they have both skill and character. I am grateful to them for their attitude and for the way they fought on the court for every ball, for every point," said Raul Losano .
Preparation for the semi-finals: aiming for victory
In the semi-finals, the Ukrainians will meet again with the Czech national team. In the previous matches, our players showed that they can play on an equal footing with the Czech volleyball players. Raul Losano is confident that the rematch will be successful for Ukraine.
"The Czech national team is a good balanced team, but you can fight with it and win. In some moments, our players were overly worried, made mistakes. I really hope that in the second game with this team, our guys will look much stronger and will be able to achieve a positive result." , - said the coach.
Future prospects: League of Nations
The national team of Ukraine has big ambitions for the future. After reaching the final stage of the Golden Euroleague, the team plans to compete for a place in the Volleyball League of Nations. Raul Losano believes that this national team has the perspective and potential to achieve high results at the international level.
"I dream of getting to the League of Nations with the Ukrainian national team. And the first step on the way to that is to win the semi-final match, try to play in the final of the Golden Euroleague. If it works out, then we will continue to fight to achieve this goal," Losano concluded.
The semifinal match of the Golden Euroleague between Ukraine and the Czech Republic will take place in the Croatian city of Osijek on June 15. On the same day, the national teams of Croatia and Estonia will play in the second semi-final.
