Nicola Negro Continues with Gerdau Minas
Nicola Negro, the Italian mastermind, has once again committed his future to Gerdau Minas, the current reigning champions of the Women's Superliga. This extension marks his sixth season with the Brazilian giants, a tenure filled with unparalleled success.
Building on a Legacy of Triumph
Under Negro's guidance, Gerdau Minas has amassed an impressive collection of titles, including three Superliga championships, two Copa Brasil victories, and a Supercopa win. Reflecting on his journey, Negro shared his enthusiasm:
"I’m thrilled to continue this journey with Minas. Last year, we secured three major trophies, including the Supercopa."
Facing New Challenges Ahead
Looking forward, Negro anticipates a more competitive season as rival teams bolster their squads. He acknowledges the challenges but remains confident in his team's resilience:
"Next season will be more challenging. Many clubs have reinforced their teams. We’ve undergone significant changes, but we’re prepared to fight for the finals."
The Squad for 2024/25
Gerdau Minas has revealed a formidable 16-player roster for the upcoming season. The team includes middle blockers Julia Kudiess, Kelly Gomes, Rebeca, Giovana Guimarães, and Thaisa; setters Fran Tomazoni and Jenna Gray; opposites Kisy and Amanda Marques; liberos Larissa Fortes and Kika; and outside hitters Pri Daroit, Peña, Glayce Kelly, Celeste Plak, and Victoria.
Technical Team's Crucial Role

His technical team, featuring assistant coach Rodrigo Fuentealba, physical trainer Alexandre Marinho, performance analyst Tiago José Silva, and physiotherapist Ricardo Alves Pereira, has been instrumental in shaping the team's strategy and performance. Together, they form a cohesive unit that has driven Minas to the pinnacle of Brazilian volleyball.
A Season of High Expectations
