On Friday, June 21, all Mexican eyes will be fixed firmly on the city of Las Vegas as Sergio Chirino takes on Rafael Espinoza in a bid to claim the featherweight title. This bout promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with both fighters bringing their best to the ring.
Espinoza's First Title Defense
Rafael Espinoza, who captured the WBO Featherweight belt in December 2023 by narrowly defeating Robeisy Ramirez in Florida, is set for his first title defense. Fighting out of Michoacan, Mexico, Espinoza is determined to show why he is called "El Divino."
"I'm excited to get back in the ring," Espinoza shared. "I'm training very hard as always. I know that I will face a fellow Mexican who comes to win. I will be ready to defend my title with a lot of grit and heart."
Chirino's Quest for Glory
On the other side of the ring, Sergio Chirino steps into his 24th professional fight with an impressive record of 23 wins, including 13 knockouts. His only loss dates back to 2018 against Mauricio Lara. Chirino is more than ready to seize this opportunity and claim the featherweight title.
"Mexicans have a reputation for having a lot of heart," Chirino commented. "And whenever there are two of us in the ring, it's a battle. I'm happy for the opportunity, but at the same time, I know I've earned it. I'm going for that belt."
Exciting Undercard Lineup
While Espinoza and Chirino headline the event, the undercard is equally packed with talent and promise. The full card for the June 21 event includes:
- Andres Cortes vs Abraham Nova - Super-featherweight
- Troy Isley vs Javier Martinez - Middleweight
- Floyd Diaz vs Francisco Pedroza - Bantamweight
- Steven Navarro vs Juan Pablo Meza - Super-flyweight

- Albert Gonzalez vs Conrado Martinez - Featherweight
What to Expect
The atmosphere at the BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau is expected to be electric, with thousands of fans eager to witness this high-stakes clash. Both fighters have promised to bring their best, and the night is set to be a memorable one for boxing fans.
This event not only showcases the talent within Mexican boxing but also underscores the heart and determination that these athletes bring to the sport. As the night unfolds, all eyes will be on the ring to see who emerges victorious in this epic featherweight showdown.
