The second week of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2024 is delivering thrilling matches, with action unfolding in Fukuoka, Japan, and Ottawa, Canada. Poland celebrated their fifth victory, decisively defeating Turkey 3-0 in a match that showcased their dominance.
The Polish team, under the guidance of Coach Nikola Grbić, controlled the game from start to finish. Bartosz Bednorz was a standout performer, scoring an impressive 19 points, while Łukasz Kaczmarek contributed 11 points to the team's success. Turkey, making their debut in the VNL, struggled to find their footing and has only secured one point so far.
"We played with great intensity and focus. Our teamwork and strategy were spot on," said Grbić after the match.

In another electrifying encounter, Italy suffered their first loss of the tournament, falling to France in a closely contested 2-3 match. The game was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination. The final set ended 15-10 in favor of France, leaving Italy to regroup and strategize for their next game.
Slovenia Stays Unbeaten
Slovenia remains the only unbeaten team in the tournament, continuing their impressive run. Their consistent performance has set a high bar for other competitors.
Brazil Overcomes Iran
Brazil added another win to their record, defeating Iran 3-1. The match saw Brazil recover from a slow start, showcasing their resilience and tactical prowess to secure the victory.
Germany Triumphs Over Bulgaria
Germany also secured a significant win, overcoming Bulgaria with a 3-1 victory. This win bolsters Germany's position as they aim for a spot in the finals.
Road to the Finals
Sixteen teams are competing in the VNL, each participating in three tournaments and playing four matches in each. The top seven teams after the preliminary round, along with host Poland, will advance to the finals in Łódź from June 27-30. As the competition progresses, teams are vying not only for VNL glory but also for a spot in the Olympic tournament.
Currently, seven teams have secured their places alongside host France: Germany, Brazil, the USA, Japan, Poland, and Canada. The remaining spots will be filled based on FIVB rankings, prioritizing teams from continents not yet represented.
