The grass season has started: Boulter and Samsonova wins

"The first grass WTA tournaments of the 2024 season brought unexpected results, becoming a real test for the participants"

From June 10 to 16, the first two grass-court tournaments at the WTA level in 2024 took place. Tournaments in Nottingham (Great Britain) and Hertogenbosch (Netherlands) brought together the best tennis players who competed for prestigious trophies.

Boulter defends title in Nottingham

Katie Boulter, who occupies the 30th position in the WTA ranking, managed to defend her title at her home tournament in Nottingham. In the final, she met Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic, who is ranked 50th.

"Bulter became the first female tennis player to win the Nottingham tournament twice in a row"

The match turned out to be difficult for both athletes. Pliskova won the first set with a score of 6:4, but Boulter rallied and managed to turn the game in her favor, taking the next two sets with a score of 6:3 and 6:2.

Samsonova triumphs in Hertogenbosch

In the Netherlands, Lyudmila Samsonova (WTA 15), who represents neutral status, won the title. In the final, she competed with Bianca Andreescu from Canada, who is ranked 228th.

"It was an incredibly intense match, which ended with Samsonova's victory with a score of 6:4, 3:6, 7:5"

Andreescu, for whom it was the seventh final in her career, could not win, remaining with three titles. Samsonova, on the other hand, showed her endurance and skill, managing to win the decisive set.

Impact of weather on tournaments

Both tournaments were significantly complicated by weather conditions. Frequent rains forced postponement of matches, which added additional stress for athletes. Bulter and Samsonova held both semi-final and final matches on June 16, demonstrating incredible physical training and endurance.

"These victories confirm the high level of training of tennis players who managed to overcome all difficulties and achieve success"

Results and forecasts

The victories of Boulter and Samsonova in the grass tournaments set a high tone for further competitions of the season. Katie Boulter confirmed her status as one of the best grass tennis players, and Samsonova showed that she is ready to fight for the highest titles.

The weather may be another challenge for the participants in the following tournaments, but these competitions showed that real champions are capable of overcoming any obstacles. The next tournaments promise to be no less exciting, and we look forward to new bright matches.
