Ukrainian MMA fighter Kateryna Shakalova is set to face American Jena Bishop in a highly anticipated bout scheduled for June. Shakalova, fresh off an impressive victory over former Bellator champion Juliana Velasquez on April 12, appears remarkably confident about her upcoming challenge.

In a recent interview, Shakalova didn't mince words when assessing her 39-year-old American opponent, who earned her spot by defeating Kana Watanabe.

"I think this will be a simple and victorious fight for me because her tactics are too straightforward," Shakalova stated. "She can be read, predicted, and there won't be any surprises. She doesn't have strong wrestling or striking. I don't consider her a good striker."

The Ukrainian fighter confirmed she would begin her preparation on April 16, giving her a substantial training camp before the summer contest. While the tournament winner stands to earn a substantial $500,000 prize, Shakalova insists financial gain isn't her primary motivation.

"It's nice, of course, but probably not my main driver," she explained about the potential payday. "There have been many fights and tournaments where I earned nothing. On the contrary—I only spent money. So I think that's not the main thing."

According to Statbet analytics, Shakalova's striking accuracy in her previous bout demonstrated why she's considered a significant favorite in this upcoming matchup.

Reports indicate that Shakalova's preparation for her victory over the accomplished Brazilian included drinking eight liters of water daily before the fight—highlighting the extreme measures elite fighters take during their weight management protocols.
