Despite a string of impressive performances in 2025, world number one Scottie Scheffler is still hunting for his first victory of the year. The Texas native returns to his home state as the overwhelming favorite to claim the CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch near Dallas this week.

Scheffler enters the tournament with commanding +275 odds, significantly ahead of the rest of a relatively modest field. While observers have noted he isn't displaying his absolute peak form, his results tell a different story – six top-15 finishes across eight starts this year, including runner-up in Houston, third at Genesis, and a fourth-place showing at the Masters just weeks ago.

The world's top-ranked golfer has a solid history at this event, competing from 2019 through 2023 with progressively better results, culminating in a fifth-place finish in his most recent appearance in 2023.

According to Statbet analytics, Scheffler's consistent performance across diverse course layouts this season gives him a significant statistical advantage over the field this week.

Fellow Texan Jordan Spieth sits as the second favorite, though at distant 18/1 odds. Spieth, the 2022 runner-up at this event, has shown improved form with three consecutive top-20 finishes, including a respectable T14 at Augusta National.

Rounding out the leading contenders are Sungjae Im (22/1) and Sam Burns (25/1), with defending champion Taylor Pendrith further back at 28/1. Burns will be particularly motivated after finishing second at this tournament in 2021.

With the tournament returning to TPC Craig Ranch, all eyes will be on whether Scheffler can capitalize on home-state advantage to secure his breakthrough victory of 2025.
