Andriy Lunin delivered an exceptional performance with nine saves in "Real Madrid's" away victory against "RB Leipzig" in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg.

"Every save was crucial tonight. The team needed someone to step up, and I'm glad I could be that person," Lunin might have reflected after his stellar performance.

The 25-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper has achieved a remarkable feat. According to statistical data, Lunin became only the second "Real Madrid" goalkeeper since at least the 2003/04 season to make 9+ saves in a single Champions League match without conceding.

Interestingly, this performance also set a personal record for Lunin in the famous white jersey. His previous best came in August during a La Liga match against "Almeria" (3:1) when he made seven saves.

The clean sheet proved decisive as "Real Madrid" managed only a minimal advantage on the scoreboard. Lunin's brilliance between the posts didn't go unnoticed either - leading statistical portals unanimously named him the best player of the match.

Can the Ukrainian continue this form as the competition intensifies? With performances like this, Lunin is certainly making a strong case for more regular appearances.
