Lennox Lewis has identified what he believes is Alexander Usyk's major weakness ahead of the Ukrainian's heavyweight title defense against Daniel Dubois. The former undisputed heavyweight champion shared his insights on the upcoming rematch scheduled for July 19, 2025, at Wembley Stadium in London.
"Dubois saw this weakness of Usyk in the first fight. I believe that's where Dubois needs to attack. You know, it's his main weakness. Dubois shouldn't give Usyk any slack in this fight because this bout is everything for him. I know Daniel is dedicated and focused enough as a boxer, so he'll be ready for the fight and enter the ring wanting to win. He wants to win because it's his dream," – Lewis stated.
Their previous encounter in 2023 ended with Usyk knocking out Dubois in the ninth round. The fight wasn't without controversy, though. In the fifth round, Dubois landed a punch that was ruled below the belt, giving Usyk significant recovery time.
Interestingly, while Lewis mentioned Usyk's weakness, he didn't specifically detail what it was – perhaps keeping that insight for Dubois's camp. According to Statbet analysis, the body shot that Dubois landed in their first fight could be the key area to exploit in the rematch.
For Dubois, this second chance represents an opportunity to claim all four major heavyweight belts currently in Usyk's possession. Can the British fighter capitalize on the weakness Lewis has identified? July's showdown at Wembley will tell.
