Dillian Whyte has been removed from this Saturday's boxing card in Ipswich, with promoter Frank Warren confirming the heavyweight is targeting a more significant opportunity in August instead.

"He's not going to be on the card now. He's had an opportunity of a big big fight in August and we're looking to get that over the line. That's going to take priority," Warren explained on Box Nation.

The 37-year-old boxer was scheduled to appear on the undercard of the Fabio Wardley vs Justis Huni event but hadn't yet been assigned an opponent. Warren described the potential August matchup as "really big" and noted that Whyte himself prefers this opportunity over competing in Ipswich.

Whyte's career has been plagued by inactivity in recent years. He's stepped into the ring just twice since defeating Jermaine Franklin at Wembley in November 2022, a fact that hasn't escaped the fighter's attention.

"Look, inactivity has basically killed my career in the last three years," Whyte candidly admitted before this cancellation announcement.

Despite this setback, the Brixton heavyweight remains focused on rebuilding momentum. His ultimate goal? A world title shot. But Whyte knows that merely participating isn't enough—he needs to be in prime condition to capitalize on such an opportunity.

According to Statbet analysis, Whyte's inactivity places him among the least active top-ranked heavyweights over the past three years, highlighting why this strategic decision to wait for a bigger August fight makes sense for his career trajectory.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Whyte has made strategic career moves. He previously fought Dereck Chisora in a high-profile co-main event, then followed that by taking on Malcolm Tann in an early evening eight-rounder.

Will this calculated patience pay off for the veteran heavyweight? Boxing fans will have to wait until August to find out.
