Joe Rogan has criticized the upcoming Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis exhibition match, highlighting the enormous weight disparity between the fighters. The popular UFC commentator didn't hold back during his Fight Companion podcast when discussing the November 14 showdown that has combat sports fans talking.
"Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis are so crazy. 135 vs 200, that is so nuts," Rogan stated bluntly when assessing the matchup.
When co-host Brendan Schaub asked about the significance of the "exhibition" label, Rogan's response was equally direct.
"That means nobody wins! It's weird," he explained, reflecting growing concerns that the bout prioritizes ratings over competitive integrity.
The size difference between cruiserweight Paul and lightweight Davis has become the central talking point around the fight. Rogan's comments echo what many boxing purists have been saying – this appears more spectacle than legitimate contest.
Interestingly, Rogan isn't the only combat sports figure questioning the matchup. Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has also weighed in, suggesting that Darren Till would make a more appropriate opponent for Paul.
Johnson specifically pointed to Till's recent knockout victory over Luke Rockhold as evidence he'd provide both a more credible challenge and a safer matchup considering the weight classes involved.
Meanwhile, Paul continues his typical pre-fight antics, recently tweeting at Davis: "You can run but you can't hide Tanky."
