Erlantz Tejada will headline a major boxing event at the Andra Mari festival in Lezama on Sunday, September 7th. The 22-year-old fighter from Abusu is preparing for his second professional bout after an impressive debut last July.
"It was a war, from the moment the bell rang we both went to the front to exchange blows, until I reached him with a right and managed to finish him with a left hook," Tejada described after his victorious debut against Johnson Rosso.
Tejada's first professional appearance was nothing short of dominant. The Dominican opponent Rosso lasted merely two minutes against the pupil of Xabi Pereda and Sergey Konstantinov. When Rosso attempted to overwhelm the debutant from the start, he was met with a calm, cold, and lethal response. The referee Manu Maritxalar stopped the fight after Tejada's final combination completely dismantled his opponent against the ropes.
After a couple of weeks of rest, Tejada has returned to the gym to prepare for his next challenge. The upcoming fight will take place at the municipal fronton of Lezama at 6:30 PM on September 7th, where he'll face Colombian boxer Daniel Ibargüen. Interestingly, Ibargüen is known to local fans for having gone the full six rounds against the powerful super lightweight contender Jokin García at La Casilla.
"Erlantz will need to be just as fast and alert as he was with Rosso and display his best boxing," warns his manager, Andoni Alonso.
The event will feature a total of eight fights, with Tejada's professional bout closing the show after seven three-round Olympic boxing matches. Several Basque champions will participate, including double Euskadi champion in the 75 kg category, Ayyoun Mlazli, who will face the powerful Vizcayan Sendoa Careaga.
Another highlight will be seeing K1 professional phenomenon Aitor Ibáñez, fresh off a victory in his Glory match in Japan, as he takes on Jon Mozo in Lezama. The gala represents a novelty for the Vizcayan locality, with tickets priced affordably around 20 euros for the limited-capacity venue.
Will Tejada continue his impressive start in professional boxing against the more experienced Ibargüen? The young boxer seems determined to put on another spectacular performance for his growing fanbase.
