Igor Klimov, the 24-year-old defender, has signed with "Kharkiv Sokoly" after parting ways with "Cherkasy Mavpy". The young talent brings solid experience to his new team after helping the Cherkasy club secure bronze medals in last season's Superliga.
Klimov appeared in 35 games for "Mavpy" during the previous campaign, posting respectable numbers - 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
"Kharkiv Sokoly" head coach Valery Plekhanov expressed enthusiasm about the new addition to his roster:
"I'm glad we signed Igor. He's a player who impresses with his quick decision-making and confidence on the court. Despite his young age, he already has substantial playing experience at a high level - dating back to his time with Prometey," Plekhanov said.
The coach highlighted Klimov's defensive abilities as particularly valuable. "He has excellent defensive skills and can play effectively against stronger and bigger opponents. He's distinguished by his strong character," Plekhanov added.
Interestingly, Plekhanov sees Klimov as one of the potential leaders for the Kharkiv squad, despite growing competition in the defender position.
"I see him as one of our team's potential leaders. The competition at the defender position is increasing significantly now - and that only motivates players," the coach concluded.
Can Klimov live up to these expectations and establish himself as a key player for "Kharkiv Sokoly"? The upcoming season will tell.
