Colin Sexton has landed at the top of the "Orlando Magic's" potential trade targets list as the financially constrained team searches for roster upgrades this summer. The "Utah Jazz" point guard represents a creative solution for a front office facing significant salary cap challenges.

"The biggest issue with the Magic would be overcoming their cap hurdles. Due to their newest extensions to Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner giving them each over $35 million annually, Orlando is a bit handicapped," reports Utah Jazz On SI, which places Orlando first among teams that should pursue the former first-round pick.

The financial gymnastics required aren't simple. Cole Anthony's $13 million contract, combined with another player, could potentially match Sexton's expiring $20 million deal. It's a puzzle, but one that might make sense for both sides.

Selected eighth overall by the "Cleveland Cavaliers" in 2018, Sexton eventually landed in Utah as part of the blockbuster trade that sent Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland. The former Alabama standout has proven himself a reliable scorer during his seven NBA seasons.

Worth noting, Sexton's offensive credentials are impressive – averaging 18.8 points per game throughout his career while shooting a career-best 40.6 percent from three-point range during the 2024-25 season. His ability to score at all three levels would force defenses to respect him, potentially creating more opportunities for Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.

The athletic guard's relentless motor and scoring ability could provide exactly what the "Magic" need to take their next competitive step. But can Orlando's front office navigate the financial hurdles to make this deal happen?
