The first racket of Ukraine, Marta Kostyuk, impressed the audience of Wimbledon not only with her game, but also with her unusual outfit. In the second round match against Australian Daria Saville, the Ukrainian tennis player made an incredible comeback, winning with a score of 4:6, 7:6 (7:2), 6:4. However, her wedding dress, in which she appeared on the court, attracted the most attention.

Comeback at Wimbledon

Marta Kostiuk showed character, endurance and skill in the match against Daria Savill. After losing the first set, she managed to level the game in the second, winning the tiebreak with a score of 7:2. In the decisive third set, the Ukrainian took the upper hand with a score of 6:4, securing a place in the next round of the tournament.

Marta Kostyuk's love story

Kostiuk played in a copy of her wedding dress, the wedding ceremony of which took place in the fall of 2023 in Cyprus. Her husband George, whom she has known since childhood, is now engaged in financial trading. The couple met at a tennis club in Kyiv, but their paths diverged when George went to study in the United States.

"My boyfriend is Ukrainian, because Ukrainians are the best," Marta admitted on social networks.

Relations and patriotism

Marta Kostiuk has always been a patriot of her country. In principle, she did not participate in tournaments in Russia after the 2014 aggression. Her personal life also reflects this attitude. After breaking up with Russian tennis player Oleksiy Zakharov, Marta briefly had another boyfriend from the Russian Federation, but a full-scale invasion in February 2022 canceled this relationship.

"We were even together until the start of the war. But it immediately became clear to me that this relationship could not exist," said Marta.

Wedding dress on the court

Marta entrusted the creation of the wedding dress to Joel Michaloff, the chief designer of the Wilson sports brand. They originally planned one long dress, but during the fitting in China they decided to make two, one for the ceremony and one for the afterparty.

"I wanted something very simple, but at the same time memorable," Kostyuk recalls.

After the wedding, Martha and Wilson decided to adapt the short wedding dress for Wimbledon by adding built-in ball shorts. Now she makes a spectacular appearance on the court in a dress that fastens with buttons, and after the game she plans to hang it in a frame on the wall.

"I think that after Wimbledon is over, I'll put a frame on this dress and hang it on the wall," Marta admitted.

Marta Kostiuk continues to surprise her fans not only on the court, but also off it. Her story of love and patriotism inspires many, and her performance at Wimbledon demonstrates her indomitable spirit and drive to win.
