Leo Climent, an 18-year-old MMA prodigy from Alicante, is set to step into the ring against Pablo Balderas on June 29th at the WAR MMA event. Climent's journey in martial arts is deeply rooted in his family, with a mother who holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a father who has meticulously sculpted him into a formidable fighter.
The Legacy of the Climent Family
Climent's father, Agustín Climent, emphasizes the values of loyalty and responsibility, traits that have been instilled in Leo from a young age.
"What I always try to convey to Leo is loyalty and responsibility to fulfill, to try to reach his maximum potential," says Agustín Climent.
Eyeing Redemption and Glory
Leo Climent is keen on proving himself, especially after his first amateur defeat three months ago.
"I want to show myself that I am at my maximum potential," Climent states.
Tactical Preparations for the Fight
Climent has been intensifying his training, focusing on both his strengths and weaknesses. His striking skills have seen significant improvement under the guidance of Javi Climent, a key figure in Ilia Topuria's training camp.
The Influence of Ilia Topuria
Topuria, a prominent name in MMA, serves as an inspiration for Climent.
"Seeing how far Ilia has come inspires me," Climent admits.
The Road to UFC
With a promising career ahead, Climent dreams of making it to the UFC, inspired by the grand introductions of Bruce Buffer and the iconic presence of Dana White.
"I didn't enjoy last summer due to the Spanish championship and the world championship," Climent reflects.
Mental Health Matters
Climent also emphasizes the importance of mental health, working with a psychologist to navigate the pressures of the sport.
"A necessary support in a sport filled with echoes from both sides of the journey," Climent notes.
Leo Climent is not just a rising star in the MMA world; he is a testament to the legacy and discipline of the Climent family, aiming to leave an indelible mark on the sport.
