The AAU Boys Junior Nationals in Orlando continue to thrill as several teams, including MB Surf, Balboa Bay, and Pulse, remain undefeated after an intense second day of competition. These teams are now setting their sights on the championship bracket, showing no signs of slowing down.
Sean Kelly's Quest for Another Gold
Sean Kelly, a standout player from MB Surf 18s who is committed to UCLA, is on a mission to add another gold medal to his impressive collection. Throughout his high school career, Kelly has amassed numerous titles and awards, becoming a prominent figure in the volleyball community.
"Sean Kelly has accomplished so much in the volleyball community," said Micheal Boehle, Kelly's Loyola High School and Manhattan Beach Surf club director. "What sets him apart from others is his work ethic, leadership, drive, and humbleness. Loyola and MB Surf have had incredible players over the years, but Sean stands out among them all."
AVCA's Recruiting Panel: A Valuable Resource
The AVCA hosted a recruiting panel featuring college coaches, offering valuable insights to athletes and their parents. The panel included Hawai'i assistant coach Kupono Fey, Penn State assistant coach Pat Shawaryn, and Carthage head coach JW Kieckhefer.
"I think it is great the AVCA is giving athletes and parents the opportunity to learn more about the recruiting process. As a former athlete, I know how new, confusing, and possibly overwhelming the process may seem," Fey said. "I'm glad I got to help by sharing some of my knowledge and experience as a coach and athlete."
The next AVCA recruiting panel is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern on Friday in Convention Center room N330, featuring coaches from NYU, George Mason, Orange Coast College, and Barry.
Player of the Day: Jake Pazanti
Pinnacle's 18s setter Jake Pazanti, committed to Long Beach State, has been named the 18s player of the day. Leading his team to a 5-1 record, Pazanti's performance has been nothing short of stellar. Recently named to the AVCA All-American first team, Pazanti continues to impress both fans and coaches alike.
As the AAU Boys Junior Nationals progress, the excitement and intensity only grow. With top-tier talent like Sean Kelly and Jake Pazanti in the spotlight, the competition promises to deliver unforgettable moments and fierce battles on the court.
