In a thrilling leap forward for volleyball, the FIVB has announced a groundbreaking partnership for the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Bolt6 has been confirmed as the official automated ball tracking provider, joining forces with Hawk-Eye, the renowned video-officiating system provider.
A Game-Changing Collaboration
The collaboration between Hawk-Eye and Bolt6 marks a significant milestone for the sport. This partnership underscores the FIVB’s commitment to delivering the highest standards of fairness and transparency for its athletes. Hawk-Eye, first introduced at the Olympic Games in the 2021/2022 season, has been a trusted name in various sports, and now, its capabilities will be enhanced by Bolt6's cutting-edge technology.
Speeding Up the Game
Bolt6’s automatic ball in/out tracking feature is set to revolutionize the pace of volleyball matches. Previously, in/out challenges accounted for about 40% of all challenge requests and consumed 25% of the processing time during matches. With Bolt6’s technology, teams can now save their challenge requests for more complex decisions, significantly accelerating match flow.
"This integration of Bolt6 with Hawk-Eye is a testament to our dedication to innovation, fair play, and integrity," said an FIVB representative.
Setting New Standards
The introduction of Bolt6’s technology was driven by strong advocacy from the FIVB Coaching Commission and VNL Council members. By integrating Bolt6 with Hawk-Eye, the FIVB is setting a new benchmark for fairness and excitement at the Olympic Games, ensuring that every match is conducted with the utmost accuracy. This initiative is part of the FIVB’s investment in ensuring the best-ever Olympic volleyball competition in Paris.
Flexibility and Innovation
The flexibility demonstrated by the Paris 2024 Organising Committee, Hawk-Eye, and Bolt6 was crucial in making this partnership possible. Their willingness to integrate this advanced technology promises to contribute to a world-class volleyball competition at the upcoming Olympic Games.
As the countdown to Paris 2024 continues, the combined capabilities of Hawk-Eye and Bolt6 are poised to set new standards and ensure a hugely successful competition. The volleyball community worldwide eagerly anticipates a thrilling and fair tournament, thanks to these technological advancements.
