Pascal Formann, the 41-year-old goalkeeping coach known for his powerful shots, has extended his contract with VfL Wolfsburg. This news comes as a relief for the club, which is set to welcome new goalkeepers Koen Casteels from FC Copenhagen and Marius Müller from Schalke 04, adding to the existing lineup of Pavao Pervan and Niklas Klinger.

Formann's Impact on Wolfsburg's Goalkeepers

Formann has been with VfL Wolfsburg for eleven years, initially working in the youth academy before taking over as the head goalkeeping coach in 2017. His tenure has seen significant improvements in the performance of the club's goalkeepers, most notably Koen Casteels, who recently transferred to Saudi Arabia.

"We are delighted that Pascal is staying on board," said VfL Sporting Director Sebastian Schindzielorz. "We have great confidence in his work and believe he can continue to develop our goalkeepers at a high level in the new setup."

Challenges and Opportunities Ahead

Formann himself is excited about the new challenges. "The work at VfL Wolfsburg has been incredibly enjoyable so far," he said. "With the new goalkeeping team, we have exciting challenges ahead of us. I thank all those responsible for their trust in my work and look forward to contributing as a member of the coaching team every day."

Preparations for the New Season

The team, led by head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl, will begin preparations for the new season with performance tests starting on July 9, followed by the official training kickoff on July 11. Formann will be joined by English assistant coaches Craig Fleming and Scott Waters, as well as Patrick Hasenhüttl, the head coach's son, and Rainer Widmayer, who serves as the liaison coach for the youth academy.

Formann's contract extension is a strategic move by Wolfsburg as they aim to build a robust defensive line for the upcoming season. With his extensive experience and proven track record, fans can expect the new goalkeepers to be well-prepared and in top form.
