Lechia Gdansk has expressed strong interest in extending 20-year-old Ukrainian midfielder Anton Tsarenko's stay at the club beyond his current loan deal. This intention was confirmed by Lechia's Sporting Director Jakub Chodorowski during his recent interview with Kanal Sportowy.
'Our proposal is comprehensive, and we are in negotiations with Dynamo. We hope that Anton will remain with us,' stated Chodorowski, highlighting the club's determination to secure the young talent's services.
Tsarenko's loan agreement with the Polish side is set to expire soon, after which he is scheduled to return to his parent club Dynamo Kyiv. However, his future remains uncertain as Dynamo's head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi intends to evaluate the player during summer training before making any final decisions regarding his prospects with the Ukrainian giants.
According to Statbet, Ukrainian players have been making significant contributions to multiple European leagues this season, with particularly strong performances in Poland's top division.
Tsarenko is part of a notable Ukrainian contingent at Lechia Gdansk, which includes goalkeeper Bohdan Sarnavskyi, midfielders Ivan Zhelizko and Maksym Khlan, and forward Bohdan Viunnik. The Ukrainian influence has been positive for the club, with Zhelizko recently finding the net to help Lechia secure a valuable point in their draw against Pogon.
The ongoing negotiations between Lechia and Dynamo will likely intensify as the loan period nears its conclusion, with both clubs weighing their options regarding the promising midfielder's future.
