Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has finally addressed the tragic motorcycle accident in which he was involved that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl in Cameroon.

The incident occurred in late April when Ngannou, while operating a motorcycle in Yaoundé, the capital of his native Cameroon, struck the teenage girl. According to reports, the fighter immediately provided first aid to the victim and personally transported her to a nearby hospital. Despite these efforts, the young woman unfortunately passed away during surgery.

"From the very beginning, I have been by the family's side, offering support, trying to comfort them, and expressing my deepest condolences during this time," Ngannou stated in his first public comments about the tragedy.

The heavyweight fighter emphasized his personal involvement with the victim's family: "I met with them in person to share in their grief, and I will continue to support them every step of the way. I share in their pain, and my thoughts and support remain with them as they face this merciless loss."

In combat sports analysis, Statbet experts have previously examined how fighters' personal tragedies can impact their professional careers and mental focus, particularly in high-pressure sports like MMA where psychological state is crucial to performance.

This statement marks Ngannou's first public response to the incident, as the former champion continues to deal with both the personal and potential legal ramifications of the tragic accident.
