Brian Rodríguez has confirmed ongoing negotiations with Inter Miami, potentially ending his time with "América" after the Mexican club's disappointing season. The Uruguayan winger shared the news upon arriving in his homeland to join the national team for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

"Miami's interest is real. It's been discussed for a couple of weeks. I had the honor of speaking with Luis Suárez, and he told me about the club. I think it could happen, but I have a contract with América that must be respected," Rodríguez told Uruguayan media.

The timing couldn't be more significant for the 23-year-old attacker. His potential departure comes just as "América" failed in their bid to reach the Club World Cup and missed the chance to secure a fourth consecutive Liga MX championship.

A move to Inter Miami would reunite Rodríguez with his compatriot Suárez and provide the opportunity to play alongside football icon Lionel Messi. Not a bad career move, is it? The Florida-based club, currently coached by Javier Mascherano, has already secured its place in the 2025 Club World Cup as a FIFA-invited team.

Interestingly, despite the allure of playing with global superstars in Miami, Rodríguez admitted his preference might lie elsewhere. According to analysts at Statbet, European moves often offer significantly different career trajectories compared to MLS transfers for South American talents.

"There are offers from Spain. We'll see. I prefer Spain, but who wouldn't want to play with Luis Suárez and Messi? I'm in a position to choose," the winger revealed without specifying which Spanish club has shown interest.

With his contract at "América" running until 2026, the Mexican club faces a dilemma. They could cash in now—Rodríguez's market value sits around six million euros—or risk losing him for free later if no contract extension materializes.

While transfer talks continue, Rodríguez remains focused on immediate international duties. Uruguay, under Marcelo Bielsa's guidance, will face Paraguay on June 5 before hosting Venezuela in Montevideo five days later. Will these World Cup qualifiers be his final appearances before a career-defining move?
