The marriage between UFC and The Sphere is now a reality. After months of negotiations and a "significant investment" by Dana White's organization, the world's largest mixed martial arts organization will close out the summer with an event titled 'UFC Night' at the grand macro stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Historic Collaboration: UFC and Riyadh Season

The event will feature the participation of the entertainment agency 'Riyadh Season,' which has been a staple in major boxing events and is now diving into the world of MMA. This collaboration marks a significant milestone, especially with UFC's expansion into Saudi Arabia.

Celebrating Mexican Heritage

The first images of the stadium reveal a design inspired by Mexican aesthetics, timed perfectly with the celebration of Mexican Independence Day. For this promotion, UFC has enlisted the presence of flyweight champion Alexa Grasso, the first Mexican-born champion in the organization's history. Her participation in 'UFC Night' is almost certain, given the event's cultural significance and its September timing.

Return of Ilia Topuria and Anticipated Fights

The UFC 306 event is expected to be the stage for the return of Ilia Topuria, the 145-pound champion, who has already begun his training camp. His likely opponent? The Hawaiian sensation, Max Holloway. Additionally, there's a buzz around a potential showdown between Sean O'Malley and Merab Dvalishvili for the bantamweight world championship. The Georgian contender has expressed a strong desire to fight on this card, thanks to his great rapport with the Mexican audience.

Uncertainties and Speculations

Initially scheduled for September 14, UFC 306 has now been rebranded as 'UFC Night Riyadh Season.' However, it's unclear whether this event will count as a Fight Night or maintain its status despite the rebranding. If it doesn't count within the monthly cycle of major events, Dana White might have reserved September's big night for Conor McGregor's much-anticipated return to the octagon against Michael Chandler.

"It will be unlike anything anyone has ever seen before. I've already invested $16 million in this. This will never be done again. Anyone coming after me in The Sphere is screwed," Dana White declared recently on the Club Shay Shay podcast.

The investment and the exponential growth of mixed martial arts are reaching new heights, and the September event could be a historic milestone for the world's largest MMA organization.
