Ilia Topuria, the rising star of the UFC, has set his sights on a return to the octagon at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi. After clinching the featherweight title in a thrilling match at UFC 298 this past February, Topuria is eager to defend his crown once again. However, his next opponent remains uncertain, with Max Holloway potentially out of the picture.

Topuria’s Preferred Venue: Abu Dhabi

Topuria revealed his preference for Abu Dhabi during a press conference in Madrid for the upcoming release of his biographical film, Topuria: Matador. The movie, set to hit theaters on September 19, delves into various facets of his life, from his family roles to his journey in the UFC.

"I've been ready all summer, just waiting for a date. It's him making all the excuses. First, it was family issues, then weight cutting," Topuria said, referring to Holloway.

Potential Opponents and Timing

With Holloway's reluctance to commit, Topuria is open to other challengers stepping up. The UFC has considered dates in mid-September and early October, but the end of October in Abu Dhabi seems most likely.

"Honestly, Abu Dhabi seems like the place. I hope it happens. I'm ready, even if they call me to fight in Las Vegas," Topuria emphasized.

Perfect Timing for European Fans

A fight in Abu Dhabi would be ideal for Topuria's European fanbase. The main card is slated for 16:00 CET on October 26, 2024, making it perfect for Spanish, Georgian, and other European viewers.

The Documentary: A Glimpse into Topuria’s Life

The upcoming film promises to offer an unfiltered look at Topuria's life, capturing his journey to the featherweight title. Topuria highlighted the authenticity of the documentary, noting how it allowed him to see himself in new ways.

"When you film for a year, you forget you're wearing a mic and camera. Watching it was surprising, even for me. It helped me understand myself better," Topuria reflected.

As Topuria awaits the final details of his next title defense, fans can look forward to both his return to the octagon and the release of his documentary, which promises to be a must-watch for MMA enthusiasts worldwide.
