German Former Boxing Champion Dies at 43

The boxing community is shocked by the sudden death of Alesia Graf, the former German boxing champion, at the age of 43. Graf claimed the GBU world title in 2006 and the WIBF championship in 2008. Known as "Die Tigerin", she fought 29 professional matches and won 16. Graf retired in 2019 and was remembered fondly by her former sparring partner, Regina Halmich, who recalled, 'We had a great time together... Two women in a male-dominated boxing domain... We always stuck together and supported each other; we were friends.' Graf was born Alessja Klimowitsch in Belarus and moved to Germany at 19. She changed her last name to Graf after marriage in 2002 and became a German citizen in 2008. Her career was predominantly with the Hamburg-based Universum Box-promotion, managed by Klaus-Peter Kohl and Peter Hanraths. Hanraths expressed his deep condolences to Graf's family, praising her ambition and strength, stating that she was one of the best female boxers alongside Regina Halmich.
