Coaches' comments
"Italy is a more footballing country, so we are happy to let them take the burden of the favourites. We have a united team, we have shown it in the last three matches. We have full faith in ourselves and our abilities. If we play with pleasure, we will have a chance to win," said the head coach of the Swiss national team, Murat Yakin.
"It's basically a new tournament now and I can see the look on my players' faces changing. We had a very difficult group and getting out of it definitely took some of the weight off our shoulders. The Swiss are a very united team. They play tight , and it becomes difficult to find free space between their formations. They also actively press. If they do not act wisely, it will be difficult to attack constructively," commented the head coach of the Italian national team, Luciano Spalletti.

The teams have a rich history of meetings - they played 61 matches. The Swiss have won only eight times, while the Italians have won 29. At Euro 2020, the Azzurri defeated their opponents 3-0 in the group stage. After that, the teams exchanged draws in qualifying for the 2020 World Cup – 0:0 in Basel and 1:1 in Rome.
