Tennis Prodigy Carlos Alcaraz Opens Up About Injury

Carlos Alcaraz, the young tennis sensation, returned to his childhood club, RCT Barcelona-1899, not to play, as fans had hoped, but to share news about his uncertain future in the sport—at least for the upcoming Madrid tournament.

"As you all know, I won't be able to play here in Barcelona, a club that's a big part of my life. I wanted to explain my situation personally," said the two-time champion of the event, in a brief, no-questions media appearance.

The Ups and Downs of Recovery

The problem began during a practice session in Montecarlo, leading Alcaraz to withdraw from the competition. Initial medical tests showed positive signs, raising hopes for a quick comeback. However, subsequent trials didn't go as planned, revealing the persistence of discomfort in his right arm.

"The images are good, but my feeling is wrong," Alcaraz pointed out, hinting at the uncertainty of his participation in the Mutua Madrid Open.

  • Emphasis on rehab is high as the Spanish star is desperate to get back on the clay for the European tour, but only if his arm can handle the intensity of professional tennis without pain.
