Self-criticism and internal struggles: Hladky about his time at "Dynamo"

Olexandr Gladkyi, a former striker of the Ukrainian national team and a number of clubs, and now the sports director of an amateur club, frankly shared his thoughts on the unsuccessful period in Kyiv "Dynamo" under the leadership of Serhiy Rebrov. In an interview for the SportArena YouTube channel, Hladky noted that the great desire to prove his worth to others was a mistake that prevented him from fully revealing himself in the team.

"I wanted to prove something to someone. It was a big mistake of my life... Then I realized that I only needed to prove something to myself," Hladkyi says.

He also expressed his gratitude to Serhii Rebrov for the opportunity to play for "Dynamo", but admitted that he understood: not all teams can become their own. Hladky was the initiator of the termination of the contract, because he felt that the results of his game did not meet the expectations of the club.

A difficult path to self-discovery

Aleksandr Gladky considers his time in "Dynamo" to be a difficult but important stage of personal growth. He emphasized that in sports, as in life, it is important to set goals and achieve them, rather than trying to live up to someone's expectations. According to him, it was this experience that allowed him to understand that it is more important to be true to yourself than to try to meet external standards.

"I have no regrets... You have to go through it, and I did," he shares.

Having not scored a single goal for "Dynamo" in the 2016/2017 season, Hladky notes that his experience at the club became a lesson for him, which he uses now, building his career as a sports director.

The future after "Dynamo": new challenges for Hladky

The transition from player to sporting director requires not only an understanding of the game, but also an in-depth analysis of football business and management. Hladky, with his wealth of experience on the field, now brings those skills to the management of an amateur club, where he has the opportunity to develop talent and shape the future of the team.

Thanks to his experience in "Dynamo", Oleksandr Gladky now looks at football from a different angle and uses the lessons learned to form a new philosophy in his club. He emphasizes the importance of players' psychological resilience and the ability to learn from their own mistakes, which is key to success not only on the football field, but in life as well.
