Club Dnipro-1, which at the end of the season took fourth place in the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) and received the right to participate in the qualification of the Conference League, may not live to see the start of the European Cups. The situation around the club is becoming increasingly tense, and it is reported that the team may cease to exist in the near future.
Financial difficulties and lack of staff
Critical financial problems became the main reason for the possible disappearance of Dnipro-1. The club has not paid salaries to its employees since January. Debts pile up, and promises to pay them off by the end of the month remain just words.
"Dnipro-1 is most likely living out the last days of its life, its history. There is no warehouse, everyone has almost run away," the source reports.
At the moment, only 11 players remain in the team, including Kinareykin, Yurchuk, Lednev, Tretyakov, Sarapii, Rubchinsky, Horin, Hadjiev, Kivinda and two players from the U-19. Even the youth team has almost completely disappeared.
Infrastructure problems
An equally alarming situation is observed with the infrastructure of the club. There is no one at the base of the club, and the fields remain unattended. Five agronomists, who are supposed to monitor the state of the lawn, have not been paid since January, and one of them was drafted into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"There is no one at the base, the grass has burned out in all the fields. The agronomists are not taking care of it, there are five agronomists - one was taken to the TCC war, the other four say that they have not been paid since January," the source said.
Problems with the owner and prospects for the future
The main owner of the club, who currently does not have access to freedom, cannot decide on the future fate of Dnipro-1. The club is trying to capitalize its finances by selling football players, but this is not enough to stabilize the situation.
"Why are the debts not paid? They are not paid yet, because there is no team from the mountain. Therefore, the only owner, who unfortunately does not have access to freedom, was told that we have money, we can move on, give your consent. And they said that they are waiting for an answer from him for a week, what might be the prospects for the life of Dnipro-1."
Consequences for Ukrainian football
The disappearance of Dnipro-1 may have serious consequences for Ukrainian football. The team was scheduled to play in the second qualifying round of the Conference League against the Hungarian club Akademiya Puskas. The loss of one of the clubs at the start of the European Cups can negatively affect the image of Ukrainian football in the international arena.
In summary, the situation around Dnipro-1 remains critical. Without a quick solution to financial problems and stabilization of the team, the club may cease to exist, which will be a great loss for Ukrainian football. Time will tell if Dnipro-1 can overcome these difficulties and continue its history.
