Toyota Takes the Lead at Richmond Xfinity

Chandler Smith has clinched his second consecutive victory at Richmond Raceway, soaring through the final stage to an outstanding triumph. With Aric Almirola snagging the runner-up spot, and Corey Heim, Taylor Gray, and Jesse Love completing the top five, it was a race that had Toyota fans on the edge of their seats, marking the first time since 2012 in Dover that Toyota dominated the top four spots.

Almirola may have had the speediest car in the first two stages, but Smith, the title's defending champion, shifted gears and raced ahead on Lap 191, leading all the way to the checkered flag – winning with a hearty four-second margin.

Smith now shares the spotlight with Austin Hill, both securing the most Xfinity wins this season. As the only full-time drivers with wins under their belts this season, they're setting the pace in the race for the championship.

From the Back to the Front: Bubba Pollard's Impressive Run

  • Stage 1 and Stage 2 were dominated by Aric Almirola, leaving competitors in the dust.
  • Making an impressive Xfinity debut, Taylor Gray didn't just participate – he soared to a top 10 finish with Joe Gibbs Racing.
  • Starting from the back row, Bubba Pollard surged through the field, securing a well-deserved sixth place after overcoming qualifying woes.

The Tough Breaks and Tire Woes

Even with spirits running high, the race wasn't kind to everyone. Brandon Jones' race came to a screeching halt due to mechanical issues, landing him a disappointing 37th place. A fiery exit for Ryan Vargas after his Chevrolet burst into flames, and a brake issue sidelined Sheldon Creed, signaling a bad day at the office for these racers.

Sam Mayer was in the mix for a stellar finish until a pit road mishap with Gray sent his tire prospects spinning, leaving him lagging behind the pack.

Joey Gase's day ended against the wall, but not without a dramatic toss of his bumper cover at Dawson Cram's car, adding some unexpected theatrics to the competition.
