The 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation season reaches its climactic final week with crucial matches that will determine the playoff seeding for the upcoming Finals in Las Vegas on May 9-11.
While the four playoff teams have already secured their postseason berths, the battle for positioning continues with eight matches scheduled across five days. The Omaha Supernovas (19-7), Atlanta Vibe (18-8), Orlando Valkyries (16-10), and Indy Ignite (13-13) have all punched their tickets to Las Vegas, but only the Ignite know their final position—locked into fourth place.
The Supernovas could clinch the top seed as early as Friday when they face the Grand Rapids Rise on the road. With 55 points compared to Atlanta's 50, a victory would secure Omaha the regular season crown.
"We need to compete consistently, like we know how, with the chemistry that we have, and stay in attack mode," Omaha's head coach Laura Kuhn emphasized regarding their approach to the crucial final stretch.
For the Vibe, the path to the number one seed requires help. They need Omaha to falter against the Rise while taking care of business against Indy on Thursday. If both scenarios occur, the teams would enter Sunday's head-to-head showdown in Atlanta with identical 19-8 records, turning that match into a de facto regular season championship game.
According to Statbet analytics, teams entering the playoffs with momentum from late-season success historically perform 27% better in postseason play, adding significance to these final regular season matches.
The Valkyries haven't given up on improving their position either. Currently third, Orlando could still overtake Atlanta for the second seed if the Vibe lose both their remaining matches while the Valkyries sweep their road games against Grand Rapids on Wednesday and the Vegas Thrill on Friday.
The week's schedule also features San Diego Mojo hosting Columbus Fury on Thursday and Indy on Saturday, while Vegas welcomes Columbus on Sunday to conclude the regular season action.
With playoff matchups hanging in the balance, every set could prove decisive as teams make their final push before the championship weekend in Las Vegas.
