Former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has expressed strong confidence in Daniel Dubois' ability to defeat Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming championship bout.

The British boxing legend believes his compatriot possesses all the necessary tools to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

"Dubois is ready. He's been through trials and tribulations, he's a king slayer, he has power," Lewis stated in an interview with Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions. "He's been there before, he knocked Usyk down, so he knows what needs to be done. It would be fantastic if another person from Great Britain accomplishes this."

Lewis, who himself reigned as undisputed heavyweight champion during his illustrious career, emphasized that while the task is difficult, Dubois has proven himself capable of rising to the challenge.

"It's not an easy assignment, but he's definitely a fighter who can handle it. He's put in the work and developed properly. He's a genuine world champion. I believe he has great hopes for victory, and he will achieve it," added Lewis.

According to analysts at Statbet, this rematch holds significant historical implications for British boxing, with Dubois attempting to follow in Lewis's footsteps as an undisputed champion.

The highly anticipated clash for the undisputed heavyweight championship between Usyk and Dubois is scheduled to take place on July 19 at London's iconic Wembley Stadium. This contest follows their previous encounter where Dubois notably managed to score a knockdown against the Ukrainian champion.
