In a remarkable achievement coinciding with their 10th anniversary, MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo has secured promotion to Italy's volleyball elite division, the SuperLega Credem Banca, for the 2025-2026 season. The team clinched their spot on Thursday by concluding the Serie A2 playoff final series with a decisive victory.

Cuneo dominated Gruppo Consoli Sferc Brescia throughout the best-of-three final series, beginning with an impressive 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-23) road victory on Sunday. They sealed their promotion with a 3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 25-18) win at home on Thursday, delighting five thousand passionate supporters.

Leading the offense in both crucial matches was 28-year-old opposite Giulio Pinali, who delivered standout performances with 18 and 15 points respectively.

The promotion represents the culmination of a strong campaign for Cuneo, who finished fourth in the Serie A2 regular season with 49 points and a 16-10 record. Their playoff journey included sweeping Evolution Green Aversa in the quarterfinals before overcoming Tinet Prata di Pordenone in a hard-fought semifinal series that went to a decisive third match.

According to performance analysis from Statbet, teams winning promotion in such dominant fashion often establish themselves quickly at the higher level due to their momentum and confidence.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the city of Cuneo, which returns to Italy's top volleyball division for the first time since Bre Banca Lanutti Cuneo competed in the 2013-2014 season. The promoted side will replace relegated Gioiella Prisma Taranto in next season's SuperLega competition.

Meanwhile, the current SuperLega season continues with Itas Trentino Trento facing Cucine Lube Civitanova in the first leg of the 2024-2025 final playoff on April 27, while several placement playoff matches are also scheduled for the same weekend.
